Development Services

Net Lease Alliance provides the complete “toolbox” of pre-development and development services beginning with site plan, through site survey, environmental and geotechnical investigation, selection and management of third party consultants, budgeting and planning, entitlements, site and structural design and review, through permitting.

Construction Services

Net Lease Alliance assumes responsibility of construction and project deadlines with specific expertise in contractor qualification and selection; bid administration and qualification; administration of construction documents; construction management; construction invoicing & reporting; and project closeout punch list, warranty and lien waiver administration.

Steven G. Rogers

Chairman of the Board of Directors

Prior to forming Rogers & Associates, Steve Rogers was president & CEO of Parkway Properties, Inc., through its early development and listing on the New York Stock Exchange to become part of the S&P 600 Small Cap Index stocks with assets under management exceeding two billion dollars. Serving five years in the U.S. Army, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. He has served on the boards of RREEF America REIT III, First Commercial Bank and numerous other national, regional and local organizations, both private and public.

Ron H. Johnston

Director & CEO

Ron has served as a Director for NLA since its inception and has been CEO since February 2014.  Ron has had a successful 42-year career in commercial real estate finance.  Prior to joining NLA, Ron was the owner of Johnston Financial Services, LLC beginning in 2001.  Prior to that, Ron had a successful 23-year career in banking as a commercial real estate lender.  Over his career, Ron's teams have placed well over $1.7 billion in debt and equity.  Ron works out of NLA's Lexington, KY office.


Sam L. Colson

Director & CFO

Sam joined NLA at its inception as a founder and CFO.  Previously, he was CFO for a successful national developer of shopping centers and net-leased properties.  Prior to that, Sam served as a Director and COO of Credit Suisse’s Column Capital and Column Guaranteed lines of business.  Sam began his career as a CPA providing accounting, consulting and tax services to a wide array of developer clients with a focus on commercial real estate.  Sam has had direct involvement in the structuring and financing of over $1 billion in commercial real estate transaction ranging from multi-family, historic rehabs, shopping centers, strip centers and single-tenant net lease properties. Sam works from NLA’s Montgomery, AL office.


Wayne Harris

Vice President of Legal Services

Wayne has over thirty years of retail legal experience and success with national retailers and commercial real estate development. After serving as Assistant General Counsel for Lowe’s Companies, Inc., the parent company for Lowe’s home centers, he joined a commercial real estate developer of properties throughout the Southeast, Midwest, and Southwest. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Law.  Wayne works in NLA’s Franklin, TN location.


Chad Williams

Director of Development Services

With more than 17 years of commercial development experience, Chad Williams has managed over 215 build-to-suit and shopping center projects. His responsibilities include management of all steps of development including pre-development, site planning, due diligence, civil and architectural construction documents and permitting. He regularly conducts hearings before planning commission and city council officials for site plan approvals, rezoning, variances, special-use and conditional-use permits.  Chad is based in Santa Rosa Beach, FL.

Zack Barker

Director of Construction Services

Zack has over 15-years’ experience in commercial construction and 13 prior years in residential construction. He has managed projects such as single-tenant build to suit, multi-tenant build to suit, rehabs, repurpose projects, large power centers, and hotels. Zack’s responsibilities include construction services such as engineering initiatives and construction management. He has managed projects in more than 25 states coast to coast. Zack is based in Montgomery, AL.

Hope Henderson

Legal Assistant & Closing Coordinator

Hope has been with NLA since 2016 has 18-years’ experience with coordinating commercial real estate transaction thru working as a paralegal for real estate attorneys and her work with NLA.  She has 6-years as a lending assistant for the commercial real estate lending department of a regional bank.  Hope is located in NLA’s Montgomery office.

Karen Wientjes


Karen has been with NLA since its inception and has almost 23-years’ experience working in various accounting positions.  Karen is located in NLA’s Montgomery office.


Jill Mastin

Vice President-Accounting & Finance

Jill joined NLA in 2019 and is a CPA with over 25 years of experience in real estate accounting, tax credit syndication, equity financing and portfolio management.  Jill coordinates with other NLA team members from the initial development budgeting throughout the construction period and ultimately the placement of assets.  Jill is located in NLA’s Montgomery office.
